KING CHARLES THE FIRST (reign 1866 - 1914)
COAT OF ARMS in oval 1872
      First revenue stamps were introduced in Romania starting with the 1st of September 1872 according to law, promulgated by King Carol I, "The Law for the introduction of the stamp and registration tax", published in the Official Monitor, number 48 from the 12th of March 1872. Number of values: 5 imprinted in two colours. 5 b. green & black, 10 b. yellow & black, 15 b. rosa-brown & black, 20 b. lila & black, 25 b. blue & black.

      Second revenue stamps were introduced in Romania starting with the 1875. Number of values: 5 imprinted in two colours. (1875) 5 b. brown & black, 10 b. blue & black, 15 b. grey & black, 20 b. red-lila & black, 25 b. green & black; (1877) 5 b. green & black, 10 b. yelow-brown & black, 15 b. blue & black, 20 b. grey & black, 25 b. red-lila & black.; (1890) 5 b. lila & black, 10 b. rosa & black, 15 b. yelow-brown & black, 20 b. grey & black, 25 b. green & black. (1898) 5 b. lila & black, 10 b. red-lila & black, 15 b. brown & black, 25 b. orange & black, 30 b. green & black.
KING CHARLES Ist 1911, effigy issue
      The most successful Romanian stamps, regarding design and execution. Their printing was done on printing presses brought in 1911 - 1919, using dies manufactured abroad. King Charles Ist "MF", "M.V.i.R." or "Gültig 9 Armée" overprinted. Number of values: 5 imprinted in typography. 10 b. brown, 30 b. grey, 50 b. grey (was immediately removed from circulation, not being according to legal taxes), 1 L. lred-brown, 5 L. red. 10 b. PETITIONS, 30 b. and 50 b. printed in tipography, 1 L. and 5 L. INVOICES AND MEMORANDUMS taille-douce printed. First six monts from 1919 was introduced in the new teritories the BUCOVINA overprinted issue.

KING FERDINAND (reign 1914 - 1927)
EFFIGY issues 1919 and 1922
      King Ferdinand I, 1919 issue, white or grey paper. Number of values 13in imprinted with the following values: 10, 30 and 50 bani, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 30, 40 and 50 lei. The values of 20 and 50 lei, being forged, where quickly withdrawn from circulation. King Ferdinand I, BUCOVINA overprinted issues, four types on all 13in values (unconfirmed): 10, 30 and 50 bani, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 lei. King Ferdinand I, 1922 issues, white paper. Changed colours. The same number of values 13in imprinted: 10, 30 and 50 bani, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 lei. The values of 20 and 50 lei, being forged, where quickly withdrawn from circulation. Due to the increase of orders, of a lack of installations and materials and of specialized personal, these stamps were printed in the printing press with zinc dies, made in private workshops, in the country. Their quality is poorer then previous issues, in design and in manufacturing.
EFFIGY issues 1927 and 1930
      King Ferdinand, 1927 issues. Heavy shading at left of portrait. Number of values 10 imprinted: 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, 20, 30, 50 and 100 lei. For the values of 10, 30 and 50 bani were kept the old stamps, issued in 1919.

King Ferdinand, 8 IUNIE 1930 overprinted issues. Number of values: 11 imprinted: 10, 30, 50 bani, 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 20, 50, and 100 lei.

KING CHARLES THE SECOND (reign 1930 - 1940)
1932 issue, effigy in oval
      King Carol II effigy in oval. Number of values 13in with following values: 10, 30 and 50 bani, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 20, 50 and 100 lei on various colours.
1932 issue, effigy in laureate circle
      King Carol II effigy in laureate circle. Number of values 15in with following values: 10, 30 and 50 bani, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 20, 50 and 100 lei on various colours.

1937 issues
      King Carol II effigy in circle, pelure paper. The second colour is printed on the reverse of the stamp on the gum (as a security device), and easily disappears when stamp is washed. Number of values 3 with following values: 10, 20 and 50 lei.
1940, overprinted issues
      King Carol 2nd 1932 issue effigy in laureate circle and Carol 2nd 1937 issue pelure paper. Number of values 13in with following values: 10, 30 and 50 bani, 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 20 and 50 lei, overprinted with 6 septembrie 1940.
1941, crown
      Crown issues 8th values, introduced in circulation since 1941: 10, 30 and 50 bani values, 1942: 20, 40 and 80 bani, 1946: 1 and 2 lei values. Withtrow from circulation in 1947.

MICHAEL (reign 1927 - 1930, 1940 coronation, 1945 Kingdom abolished)
1941 issue
      King Michael bust, number of values 12 with following values: 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 lei. In 1942 the 1, 2 and 5 lei stamp were perforated horizontally and used for payment of notes.
1941 issue, pelure paper
      King Michael effigy in oval, pelure paper, the second colour is printed on the reverse of the stamp on the gum, and easily disappears when washed. Number of values 5 with following values: 10, 20, 50, 70 and 100 lei.
1942, for using issue
      King Michael, double stamp perforated between, MINISTERUL FINANTELOR vertical writed. 1 and 2 lei reused in 1947 with IOVR overprint and in 1948 with REPUBLICA POPULARA ROMANA overprint.

      King Michael small head with wavy lines background. Number of values 6 with following values: 5, 10, 20, 40, 60 and 80 lei.

      King Michael, double stamp perforated between, MINISTERUL FINANTELOR vertical writed. Number of values 5 with following: 2, 4, 8, 10 and 20 lei.

1944, fiscal - postal
      King Michael, special issue, FISCAL-POSTAL issue. Number of values 7th with following: 50 bani, 1, 2, 4, 5, 8 and 10 lei.

      King Michael black small head with wavy lines background. Number of values 8th (inflation values) with following values: 100, 200, 400, 1.000, 2.000, 5.000, 10.000 and 20.000 lei.

      King Michael small head with wavy lines background and "1947" overprinted. Number of values 3 with following values: 20, 40 and 100 lei.

ROMANIAN PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC (1948 - 1965)
1948, KING MICHAEL & crown, RPR overprint
      King Michael, 1942 - 1944 double stamp perforated between and 1941 crown issues, overprinted with red words REPUBLICA POPULARA ROMANA.
RPR coat of arms 1948 issues
      Arms of the People's Republic, with white numerals. Two issues, 1st issue on September with MI watermark and 2nd on November with RPR watermark. Both issues have the same number of values: 0.10, 0.20, 0.50, 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 16, 20, 30, 40 and 100 lei.
RPR coat of arms 1952 issue
      1952 Currency reform 1 new Leu= 20 old Lei. Arms of the People's Republic, with white numerals overprinted with new values: 5 bani/1 leu, 10 bani/2 lei, 25 bani/5 lei, 40 bani/8 lei, 50 bani/10 lei, 80 bani/16 lei, 1 leu/20 lei, 1.50 lei/30 lei, 2 lei/40 lei and 5 lei/100 lei.
RPR coat of arms 1952 / 1953 issue
      Arms of the People's Republic, with coloured numerals. Two issues, 1st issue on 1952 on smal size with values: 5, 10, 25, 50 bani and 1, 2, 5 lei. 2nd issue on 1953 with falowing values: 5, 25 and 50 bani on smal size and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 lei on larger size.
RPR coat of arms local tax 1953 & 1955 issue
      Arms of the People's Republic, local tax - popular council, only one value 25 lei. Other issue, double stamp 1955 issue (1951 used recorded), value 3 lei.
RPR coat of arms 1957 - 1959 issues
      Double stamps, two issues: 1957 issue Arms in oval frame with 7th values: 25, 50 bani, 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 lei;
1959 issue with arms in circular frame with 6th values: 50 bani, 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 lei.

SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF ROMANIA (1965 - 1989)
1966 issue
      Double stamps with same design as previous RPR issue, just changed the words RPR in ROMANIA. Number of values 6th with following values: 50 bani, 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 lei
1968 issue
      Double stamps with new design. Number of values 5 with following values: 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 lei

after december 1989
1990 - 1996 issues
      Double stamps with design like previous issue. Two issues; one with RSR watermark and FT pseudo watermark, number of values 5 with following values: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 lei. Second with FT pseudo watermark and number of 10 values: 25, 40, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1.000, 2.000, 5.000, 10.000 lei.
1998 - 2002 - 2006 issues
      Double stamp issued in numbered sheets of 25. Rouletted. First issue 1998, number of values 12 with following: 25, 40, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1.000, 2.000, 5.000, 10.000 lei. Second issue 2002 with 10 values: 50, 100, 200, 500, 1.000, 2.000, 5.000, 10.000, 20.000, 30.000 lei. Third issue 2006 with 3 values. 20, 50 bani, 1 leu.
